Nathan Phillips...

Nathan Phillips

Nathan Phillips experienced his first symptoms of MS in 2001 and, after an exacerbation, was finally diagnosed with MS in 2003.  Nathan has an Associates Degree in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Seattle.

After art school while searching for a job in graphic design he found an opportunity to be a missionary doing graphic design in France with “Bibles & Literature in French” which publishes French Christian literature.

He worked in their print shop in Marpent for a year doing graphic design, making plates and typesetting.  “I consider it the greatest thing,” Nathan says, “to be serving God in France and doing what I love to do.”

“I’ve been doing art ever since I can remember,” he says.  When asked which medium he likes to work with, Nathan explains that he prefers acrylics, “because it dries quickly, is less hassle, and is fun to play with.”

“We tried a lot of different mediums in art school,” he explains, “but acrylics fits best with my style.”

Instead of expensive canvasses, Nathan uses scrap wood from Home Depot.  He says he developed his current style “by just putting the pen down and seeing what happens.”

Nathan now plans to move back to France working with B.L.F. full time.
